Higganum Community Center/Town Green
First held in December, 2011, Christmas in the Country is a holiday event for people of all ages.
Santa visits the children every year (sometimes with Mrs. Claus) and there are hands-on events for the little ones such as craft making and face painting.
Local and regional vendors offer a variety of gift items for sale such as jewelry, candles, holiday decorations and baked goods.
In addition to the items for sale, each vendor contributes one or more of their wares to a raffle, where you can bid on your favorites by purchasing as many tickets as you would like to put towards each. The drawing is always a highlight of the event!
Free cakes, cookies and warm beverages are available for young and old.
The Community Center is decorated inside and out for the occasion, and the event extends throughout Higganum Center, with holiday lights put up by businesses and volunteers, to create a festive atmosphere for the entire holiday season.
HVG member, Cindy Sola heads up the event every year. To volunteer your services, please contact her at [email protected]. Gloria Gorton coordinates the craft/gift sale vendors. If you are interested in having a table at the event, please contact her at [email protected].
